Recently had a discussion whether phylogeneticists considered themselves geneticists (qualified &#8220;no&#8221;). Quantitative genetics really evolved out of biometrics, which actually opposed Mendelian genetics. You can construct quantitative genetics from Mendelian first principles, but it is not necessary.
