Though I was skeptical about the prospects after one of the <a href=\"http:\/\/money.cnn.com\/2011\/11\/14\/technology\/diaspora_cofounder_died\/\">co-founders committed suicide<\/a>. One of the reasons I took an interest is that I gave $50 to the project when it first made a media splash&#8230;but honestly I thought the chances of success were always pretty low.
